Molestation case: Atanu Bhuyan will resign

Guwahati, July 17 (IANS) Atanu Bhuyan, the editor-in-chief of NewsLive channel, today announced his decision to quit following widespread criticism of the telecast of the molestation of a teenage girl here on July 9. Bhuyan made the announcement at a press conference here.

The police have arrested four more people in the case taking the total number of arrests to 12. The police have also stepped up efforts to nab the main accused, Amarjyoti Kalita.

Channel reporter Gaurav Jyoti Neog has been accused of instigating the mob to strip the teen after she came out of a pub on the busy GS Road on Monday night. Neog resigned on Sunday after a probe was announced.
