Mokokchung witnessed peace in 2015: DC

DIMAPUR, Jan 20 - Mokokchung Deputy Commissioner Sushil Kumar Patel said that the district had witnessed tremendous improvement in law-and-order situation in the Assam-Nagaland border areas during 2015. He said peace has been achieved through the cooperation of the people living in the border areas of both the states and frequent coordination meetings between Mokokchung and Sivasagar and Jorhat district administrations.

Patel, who chaired the monthly Mokokchung District Planning and Development Board meeting recently, acknowledged the role played by the Border Peace Coordination Committee (Assam-Nagaland) in maintaining peace in the border areas.

Speaking on the important events in 2015 in various fields in the district, Patel expressed his happiness that three individuals have brought laurels to the district by winning national awards.

Patel also made the members present in the meeting aware about the National De-worming Day to be observed on February 10, when children will be given de-worming medicine in all schools and Angangwadi centres. He sought active cooperation from the District Welfare Office and District Education Office along with Health and Family Welfare Department to make it a success. The meeting also discussed about the Republic Day celebration.

Meanwhile, the DC has informed all arms license holders under Mokokchung district who have furnished their details for uploading in the National Database of Arms License, to bring their respective arms license booklet and collect their UIN (sticker) from the Arm Branch, Mokokchung DC Office.
