Mohun Bagan look to maintain winning ways

GUWAHATI, March 13 - Mohun Bagan Athletic Club will face Yangon United FC, Myanmar in their second Group-G home match of the AFC Cup at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium at the Sarusajai Sports Complex, here on March 16.

Earlier, the Kolkata giants registered a convincing win here in their first home match against Maziya Sports and Recreation Club, Maldives on February 24. The team currently leads Group-G with a recent away victory against South China, Hong Kong.

Addressing the media here, Imran Khan, media manager, Mohun Bagan AC said, �Both teams will arrive on March 15 and will be practising at the venue in the evening. Yangon United FC are the national champions in Myanmar and they are quite a strong side although they managed to play a draw against Maziya Sports and Recreation Club.�

The top two teams from each group will qualify for the round of 16 while the group stage will come to an end on May 11. �Mohun Bagan will be playing the side from Myanmar for the first time. Our side looks good and both the teams are unaware regarding each others playing style. It will be an interesting match,� Khan added.

Assam Football Association secretary, Ankur Dutta said, �Mohun Bagan is in a very good stage for qualifying into the next round. I thank them for selecting the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium as the venue for hosting the matches here.�
