Mohun Bagan edge past Yangon Utd 3-2

GUWAHATI, March 16 - Mohun Bagan Athletic Club edged past Yangon United FC, Myanmar 3-2 in an evenly contested AFC Cup match at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium, Sarusajai here today.

On having received a free kick in the right flank, Katsumi Yusa�s well elevated attempt was utilised by another foreign recruit Sony Norde in the ninth minute to give Mohun Bagan an early lead. Lalpekhlua Jeje further increased the lead in the 19th minute. On having tried with a header only to witness the ball take the rebound of the Yangon custodian, Jeje made no mistake in placing it into the target with a gentle tap this time.

Yangon United were rewarded with a penalty after a hand ball inside the box by Prabir Das. Marcelo Fernandes who stepped in to take the spot kick found the back of the net with ease in the 33rd minute. Fernandes went on to score the second goal and draw parity with a fine strike from inside the box in the 67th minute.

It didn�t take much long for the Kolkata giants to take the lead as Jeje yet again came to his side�s rescue with a fine goal from close range to put his side up in front in the 68th minute.
