Mohilary tables Rs 462 cr BTC Budget

KOKRAJHAR, July 19 - BTC Chief Hagrama Mohilary on Monday presented a Rs 462.66 crore budget for the BTC for the financial year 2016-17.

Presenting the budget on the first day of the three-day BTC Legislative Assembly Budget session that began from Monday at the BTC Legislative Assembly House, Bodofa Nwgwr here. Mohilary, who is also the head of the Finance department, said that the Council is committed to achieve the growth target as per the Plan allocation.

At the same time he also said that the Government of India had sanctioned one time special Plan assistance to the Council amounting to Rs 421.02 crore for the period 2015-16, which would certainly help to meet the crisis. However, the said sanctioned fund to the Council was still lying with the Government of Assam, he said.

Mohilary also urged the Prime Minister through the House to provide the assured fund of Rs 1000 crore for all-round development of the region. He, however, revealed that the Central assistance of Rs 1000 crore was likely to tabled on July 26 next during the State Assemble Budget session.

Talking to mediapersons, Mohilary informed that the Council had enhanced the yearly allocation of fund for local area development to each MCLA of BTC to Rs 25 lakh in the line of MPLAD and MLALAD funds.

It may be mentioned here that the land allocation by the BTC authority to Patanjali Yogpeeth of Baba Ramdev was the central point of Monday�s Council session, among other issues.
