Mohilary announces relief package for daily wage earners of BTC area

KOKRAJHAR, March 25 - BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary today announced that the BTC administration will provide essential items like rice, dal, mustard oil and salt to the needy daily wage earners of the BTC region.

Welcoming the nationwide 21 days of lockdown declared by Prime Minister Narendra Modi which started from 6 pm yesterday, BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary urged the people of the region to strictly follow the lockdown guidelines as announced by the Prime Minister.

Addressing mediapersons here today, Mohilary said that in the first phase out of 9.7 lakh families, a total of 5.5 lakh families will receive the relief materials free of cost from the BTC administration during the lockdown period from tomorow and the items will be distributed door-to-door, he said.

Each of the 5.5 lakh families from BTAD region will get 25 kgs of rice, 2 kgs of dal, 500 ml of mustard oil and salt.

At the same time, Mohilary also informed that steps have already been taken to distribute around 10 lakh masks and sanitizers to people of the region as protactive measures.

Meanwhile, Kokrajhar town wore a deserted look on the first day of the lockdown. Almost all business establishments remained closed and all modes of vehicles except those of essential services were off the roads since last evening.

Cleaning exercises are also going on in Kokrajhar Municipality area and the district administration has repeatedly made announcements not to come out of their houses.
