Moghai Ojah Award presented to Loknath Goswami

JORHAT, Sept 15 - Noted folk singer and musician Loknath Goswami was presented the 9th Moghai Ojah Award at a function organised at the District Library auditorium here yesterday.

The award was instituted in 2011 by the Jorhat district unit of AJYCP.

The award, presented to Goswami by State AJYCP president Rana Pratap Baruah, carries a cash prize of Rs 21,000, a citation, a gamusa and a seleng sador.

In the function anchored by AJYCP finance secretary Siba Kalita and presided over jointly by Dr Bolin Hazarika, a retired Professor of JB College here and Pranab Jyoti Saikia, the AJYCP Jorhat district unit president, was attended by several prominent persons.

The speakers in their speeches paid glowing tributes to Ojah and also praised Goswami for his immense contribution towards promoting and popularising of folk music and songs.

State Assembly Speaker Hitendra Nath Goswami, Rajya Sabha MP Kamakhya Prasad Tasa, well-known Bihu researcher Dr Anil Saikia, dhol exponent Somnath Bora Ojah, were among the prominent people who spoke on the occasion.
