By Correspondent

JORHAT, March 25 - Major changes have been made in the tour schedule of Prime Minister Narendra Modi who was supposed to visit the State for two days from Saturday.

Addressing media persons here today, BJP state secretary Santanu Pujari, who is also the in-charge of the Jorhat event Modis meeting with leading citizens at the Jorhat Court Field told that changes were made in the Prime Ministers visit due to his other engagements.

He said that as per the latest information received by him from the party leadership, the Prime Minister, who was scheduled to spent the Saturday night in Jorhat, will fly back to New Delhi tomorrow evening. He said the Prime Minister is supposed to chair a cabinet meeting tomorrow night for which changes have been made in the tour schedule.

Asked whether Modi will visit Assam on Sunday again and address election rallies as earlier scheduled in different parts of the State, the BJP leader said that he had no information whether the tour programme on Sunday remains the same or postponed.

He said as Modi will fly back to the national capital tomorrow evening, the proposed one-hour meeting with the leading citizens of upper Assam in Jorhat has been preponed to 5 pm from 6 pm as was earlier fixed.

The BJP secretary said that instead of the interactive session with citizens in Jorhat Modi will only address about 40,000 invited guests at the court field here. He said, leading citizens selected by the party units from four Assembly constituencies of Jorhat district and six seats from Sivasagar district along with the party candidates, including those from alliance partner AGP, will be present in the meeting.

BJP national general secretary Ram Madhav, national secretary and Assam observer Mahendra Singh, Assam BJP unit president and chief ministerial candidate Sarbananda Sonowal, BJP leader Himanta Biswa Sarma are also scheduled to be present in the meeting.

Pujari said as per the revised schedule, the Prime Minister will land at Dibrugarh Airport at 9:30 am and then fly to Tinsukia in a helicopter to address a poll rally there at 10:30 am. He will then fly to Majuli the constituency from where Sonowal is contesting and attend a poll meeting at 12 pm. Modi will then fly to Bokakhat in Golaghat district to attend another election rally for AGP president Atul Bora, contesting from the seat, Pujari said.

The Prime Ministers chopper will then fly to Jorhat and land at around 4:30 pm at the Jorhat Stadium, adjacent to the Court Field, where a temporary helipad has been made, he said.
