Tezpur, Feb 1: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit the martyrs’ township at Dhekiajuli in Sonitpur district on February 7.

Local MLA Ashok Singhal, who is hosting the event, told this correspondent that Modi will formally launch the Rs 5,000-crore mega road project under ‘Asom Mala’ and will also virtually lay the foundation stone of a big-budget project of Biswanath Chariali Medical College.

“Brisk preparations for the programme, which will be held at Bhutpara, 10 km away from Dhekiajuli, are on in full swing,” he said, adding over one lakh people from the different corners of the district are expected to attend it.

As part of a publicity campaign for the ensuing event, a cycle rally of BJP workers will also be taken out on February 4 in every panchayat under Dhekiajuli constituency.

Meanwhile, Additional SP of Sonitpur Numal Mahatta said security arrangements for the event have been made as per protocol.
