Modi likely to inaugurate mega projects in State

NEW DELHI, Dec 21 - Ahead of the Assembly polls in Assam, the BJP-led NDA Government is likely to go on an inauguration spree in the State, with BJP MP RP Sharma confirming that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to inaugurate a number of mega projects in the State.

Talking to this newspaper, Sharma, who called on the Prime Minister on Monday morning, said that he has invited the Prime Minister to attend the three-day conference of Sankar Sangha scheduled to be held from February 6 to 8 at Sivasagar. The Prime Minister has consented to tour Assam.

During his Assam tour, the Prime Minister is likely to inaugurate the mega Gas Cracker Project at Lepetkata. As reported, the Phase-I of the gas cracker project has been commissioned recently.

Sharma said that the Prime Minister has been requested to also lay the foundation stone of the AIIMS at North Guwahati and Phase-IV of the Namrup Fertilizer Plant. �We expect the Prime Minister to take up these programmes during the visit,� said the Tezpur MP.
