Modi has no time for common man: Rahul

By Correspondent

MANGALDAI, April 8 - AICC vice president Rahul Gandhi today lambasted Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his government at the Centre alleging them being run by the corporate houses and big industrialists of the country.

The BJP-led government at the Centre is nothing but a toy at the hands of corporate houses and big industrialists. He cannot think for the poor people of the country, Rahul alleged while addressing a mass election rally at Kharupetia Town Field under Dalgaon LAC in Darrang district this afternoon.

The Congress star campaigner also criticised Modis foreign tours saying: Modiji has spent most of his tenure as the Prime Minister in touring foreign nations. He has no time to think about the needs of the common people.

Gandhi made several promises, including job guarantee to 10 lakhs unemployed youths, scholarship for higher studies to 100 poor students in every district every year, BPL certificates to families with yearly income of less than Rs 2 lakh, among others.

The meeting was also addressed by AICC leader CP Joshi and APCC president Anjan Dutta, among others.

Our Baihata Chariali Correspondent adds: Addressing another public meeting at Kamalpur in support of party candidate Pranjit Choudhury (56 No. Kamalpur LAC), Rahul said, Assam is a great State where a number of great saints were born who contributed in uniting the various communities into a big Assamese community. Every time I visit this State I learn something about the unity, fraternity, peace and harmony among the different ethnic groups. But the BJP is trying to break this bond.

Rahul said that BJP came to power at the Centre raising the black money issue, but the NDA government has instead given the persons with black money a chance to convert their money into white money by introducing a Fair & Lovely scheme.

AICC general secretary Dr CP Joshi also addressed the rally.

Our Nalbari Correspondent adds: The All India Congress Committee vice president, addressing a huge rally at Nalbari Lakhimi Field here today, assured 10 lakhs jobs for the youths of the State if his party is voted to power. He also assured of scholarships for higher education to a hundred poor youths of each district and BPL certificates to families whose annual income is below Rs 2 lakh under government schemes. He added that the 15-year Tarun Gogoi-led Congress government in the State has succeeded in bringing insurgency into under control.
