Modi criticises Tripura dev model

By Prabir sil

AGARTALA, Feb 22 Scuttling the much-hyped Tripura model of development, BJPs Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi on Saturday mocked the concept of third front.

When election comes, some people constitute third front and it becomes thirty-front after the elections get over and in fact there is no third front in the country, he said while addressing Nava Chetana rally organised by BJP at Vivekananda Stadium here.

Lashing out at the leaders of the third front, Modi hurled some questions Did it raise voice to address the unemployment problem during the past five years? Does it have a clear stand on the nations development? Did it raise voice at the death of NE boy in the national capital? The crowd replied with a resounding NO.

Asserting that the country need a strong government with a determination of making the country economically vibrant, Modi said, You have given 60 years to the parties including the countrys grand old party and what you have got so far? Give me just 60 months to change the countrys fortune.

Modi also came down heavily on the Marxist rule in Tripura. Tripura has proved its potentiality at the national arena in many ways. Without SD Barman and RD Barman, Indian music would have suffered a dry spell. The country would not have had scientists like Jagadish Chandra Bose if the Tripura Maharaja did not give money to him, he said.

Modi said, Tripura would have been part of Bangladesh if the then Regent Maharani of princely Tripura Kanchan Prabha had not showed maturity by merging it with the Indian Union. If a woman could show such high maturity, why is the Marxist Government failing to address the core problem of the State? It seems, the government lacks in will.

Hammering the Marxist Government further, Modi said, Now the time has come to look at why socio-economic development has not taken place even after so many years. People must give a serious thought why is BPL population increasing with every passing year? And why are the youth leaving the State in search job or employment?

If voters make the Kamal, symbol of BJP, victorious in the two Parliamentary constituencies in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, Goddess Laxmi will come to Tripura sailing on the full-bloomed lotus, said Modi.
