GUWAHATI, Feb 28 - Here We Are, a play by American playwright Dorothy Parker was staged in the Bhupen Hazarika auditorium of B Borooah College here on February 26. The play was directed by Karen Libman, Professor of Theatre and Communication, Grand Valley State University, Michigan, USA. This play was the outcome of Mock-Up, a 20-day theatre workshop conducted by Karen Libman under the aegis of the Department of English, B Borooah College. The focus of Mock-Up was on the process of learning the skills and knowledge necessary for actors to make a play and the staging of the play was a sharing of the things the students learnt during the workshop.

An American director putting up an American play in an Indian setting with Indian students brought about an interesting invisible cultural exchange. Moreover, the language of the play was both English and Assamese. Students of different disciplines of B Borooah College participated in the workshop and all the 27 participating students got a chance to be a part of the play. Manabendra Sarma, Assistant Professor, Department of English was the coordinator of the workshop.

Apart from the play, there was a small cultural programme with attractive performances by the students of the Department of English. Sadhana, an active literary and cultural group of the college performed their theme song which was followed by a Sattriya dance performance Dashavatar Nritya by students of the college training under Sattriya danseuse Dreamly Gogoi.
