GUWAHATI, Aug 14 A joint meeting the All Assam Students Union (AASU) and the Asom Sena with the producers of the mobile theatre groups of the State have made an appeal to the mobile theatre groups to maintain decency in presenting their theatrical performances.

The meeting also appealed to the mobile theatre groups to lay special emphasis on the social perspective of the States people while presenting their plays, etc.

The meeting expressed the hope that the producers, directors and playwrights connected with the mobile theatre groups would take appropriate steps in this regard.

The AASU and the Asom Sena would keep vigil on the developments in this regard with the cooperation of the producers of the mobile theatre groups, said the Asom Sena in a statement issued here on Friday evening.

The meeting, held at the Bhagawati Prasad Baruah Bhawan here, was attended by producers of the Kohinoor Theatre, Bhagyadevi Theatre, Bordoichila Theatre, Rajtilak Theatre, Rajmahal Theatre and the representatives of the Awahan Theatre and Brindaban Theatre, besides the representatives of the AASU and the Asom Sena.

The AASU and the Sena representatives said in the meeting that the mobile theatre groups have been influencing the social life of the State in a significant manner. Further, they have made immense contributions towards the development of educational institutions, libraries and different social organisations and institutions, said the AASU and Sena representatives.

But of late, to the utter chagrin of the conscious sections of people, a section of the mobile theatre groups with their presentation and commercial attitude have been making adverse impacts on the social life of the States people, they said.
