IMPHAL, July 20 - Mobile internet services were suspended across Manipur for five days �to prevent any disturbance of peace and public order,� reliable sources said today.
According to the sources, it is said that some anti-social elements are using social media extensively for transmission of hate video messages inciting the passions of the public.
Directing all mobile service providers to ensure compliance of the order, the source said the step has been taken to prevent any disturbance of peace and public order in Manipur and shall be in force with immediate effect for the next five days.
The suspension of the mobile internet services came into force from Friday morning.
Meanwhile, a rumour of imposition of curfew in Imphal was floating considering the ongoing situation in the State arising out of the widespread agitation spearheaded by students� bodies demanding removal of Manipur University Vice Chancellor Prof Adya Prasad Pandey from his post.
