Mobile Internet restored in Manipur

By Newmai News

IMPHAL, March 17 - Mobile Internet services, which were suspended in Manipur on Monday evening, were restored this evening. A State Home Department order had put a ban on all mobile Internet services in the State in the light of arson incidents in Kamjong district, involving two villages, allegedly over land dispute.

A government order issued today stated that the situation in the trouble-hit area has improved and the suspension of mobile Internet and data services may not be required further. Meanwhile, government agencies and NGOs rushed to the area with relief materials on Tuesday. Several families in the affected villages were rendered homeless after their houses were torched.

They are currently taking shelter in a nearby Assam Rifles camp.
