GUWAHATI, Nov 14 - Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today launched the mobile app Shishu Suraksha of Assam State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (ASCPCR) at a city hotel.
Speaking on the occasion, he said children have limitless possibilities within themselves and parents must not pressurise their wards for success while letting them grow naturally. He stressed the need to avoid harsh words while addressing children, as bad or vulgar words could impact their psychology negatively.
Remembering the first Prime Minister of India Jawaharlal Nehru on his birth anniversary, Sonowal urged society to put emphasis on the holistic development of children as todays children would carry forward the future society.
Only enacting laws would not prevent crimes against children and proper awareness must be generated in all corners of the State so that more people could use the Shishu Suraksha app for securing the rights of children, he said.
Calling upon the people to sustain the qualities of humanity, empathy and respect in society, Sonowal underlined the importance of keeping the children away from superstitions and dogmas by instilling a scientific temperament in them. He added that the deputy commissioners would be directed to observe a particular day at panchayat and ward levels to influence the childrens minds positively.
He also stressed the need for parents to become aware about social evils like drugs and said that teachers must take up the moral responsibility to imbibe cultural sensibilities in children.
Prime Minister Narendra Modis initiatives such as swachhta, yoga, water conservation and all other initiatives for healthy living must be taken to the children, he said.
ASCPCR Chairperson Dr Sunita Changkakoti gave the welcome address. Minister of Social Welfare Department Pramila Rani Brahma, Media Adviser to the Chief Minister Hrishikesh Goswami, MLA Dr Numal Momin, DGP Kuladhar Saikia and Chairperson of the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights Priyank Kanoongo among others attended the function.
