AIZAWL, Aug 18 Opposition Mizo National Front (MNF) today slammed the Congress government of state for having failed on the law and order front and giving a free run to insurgents from across the boder.

Mizoram had become an arms bazar where one can purchase weapons anywhere with insurgents from across the border involved in extortion activities with no resistance from the government, the MNF National Council claimed in a resolution.

The resolution further maintained the Congress government led by Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla had failed on law and order front.

More than 200 rape cases have been registered during the three-year rule of the Congress while there had been 86 murder and 1,807 burglary cases in the same period, the MNF claimd.

The resolution also came down heavily on the Lal Thanhawla regime for effecting hike in different taxes at a time prices of essential commodities are on the rise. PTI
