MLA Gowala hurls abuses at traffic police, case registered

By STAFF REPORTER

GUWAHATI, Feb 25 - Duliajan legislator Terosh Gowala today courted controversy after he verbally abused a traffic personnel who fixed a wheel clamp on his vehicle parked illegally near the PWD Chief Engineers office at Chandmari.

Later, a non-FIR case was registered by the traffic police, under which the BJP leader will have to pay a fine at the court for the unlawful act.

The traffic personnel on duty said Gowalas SUV was parked in the no-parking area near the PWD office for over an hour in the afternoon.

After I fixed the wheel clamp, three men, including the legislator, started hurling abuses at me. He said, Dont you know whose vehicle is this? the traffic personnel said.

Locals and passers-by who witnessed the incident came to the support of the traffic personnel and insisted that action must be taken against the legislator.

Though the MLA was let off at that time, a non-FIR case was later registered against him.

No separate case was lodged by the traffic personnel against Gowala for the verbal abuses and preventing them while doing their official duty.
