MLA demands probe into lynching incident

TURA, Feb 16 - A day after the lynching of two persons at Chanangpara village on suspicion of their being dacoits, the MLA of Phulbari, the constituency under which the village falls, has demanded a thorough probe into the incident.

�This is a very serious matter and a thorough investigation is necessary. I will meet district administration officials and police officers to find out the people behind the incident. They need to be punished as per the law,� said Phulbari MLA SG Esmatur Mominin after reaching his constituency to take stock of the situation.

An irate mob comprising over 4,000 people had mercilessly beaten up three persons on suspicion of their being dacoits on Thursday. Mokibul Akond and Mikseng Marak were killed, while Bita Rabha was grievously injured in the incident.

Meanwhile, family members of one of the victims, Akond, claimed that he was innocent.
