By Correspondent

AIZAWL, Sept 13 - The indefinite boycott of academic and non-academic activities in Mizoram University launched from September 6 by Mizoram University Students Council (MZUSC) for appointment of a regular Vice Chancellor was called off today.

In a release, the MZUSC said that the decision to lift the boycott was made in a joint meeting with teaching and non-teaching staff associations of the university.

As per a telephonic conservation between MZUSC leaders and Mizoram Lok Sabha MP CL Ruala, the latter had spoken to HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar.

The MP said the file for appointment of regular Vice Chancellor for Mizoram University is already with President and is likely to get back to HRD Minister within the next 15 days, the release said.

Even though there is no written document, taking into account the MPs words, the joint meeting decided that the boycott be called off, it said.

However, agitation would continue in the form of wearing black badges for 15 days, from September 11. If no positive action towards appointment of the VC is seen bySeptember 29, the MZSC would decide a future course of action to continue the demand.
