Mizoram unveils Rs 8,000 crore budget

By The Assam Tribune

AIZAWL, March 17 - Mizoram Finance Minister Lalsawta today presented the State budget 2016-17 with proposals worth Rs 8,038.39 crore and supplementary demands for the current fiscal amounting to Rs 1,126.99 crore.

In a press briefing after presenting the budget in the State Assembly, Lalsawta said that the government proposed to levy entry tax on commodities, including those purchased online, from April 1.

However, he said the Mizoram Entry Tax Act, 2015 would not be implemented if the Parliament legislates the GST Bill during the current session as the GST would cover all the items under the States Entry Tax Act. PTI
