AIZAWL, Oct 19 � Mizoram Government is planning to purchase rice from private companies and selected contractors to stem its shortage, State Food and Civil Supplies Minister John Rotluangliana said today.
The proposed purchase of rice is aimed at preventing shortage of rice in view of the �mega block� caused by the ongoing gauge conversion work in the Lumding-Badarpur railway sector in Assam, Rotluangliana told reporters here.
The contractors appointed by the State Government would procure rice from any source including neighbouring countries like Myanmar and Bangladesh, he said. � PTI
