Mizoram tally reaches 566

AIZAWL, Aug 8 - With the detection of eight more cases, Mizoram�s COVID-19 tally today reached 566.

Five of the samples examined at the Zoram Medical College laboratory here last night, turned out to be positive. Two of them are symptomatic patients admitted to the medical college, while the remaining three are asymptomatic and had been under quarantine.

Three more cases were detected among stranded truckers on the NH-306 in Kolasib district last night.

Altogether, 22 stranded truck drivers and handymen have tested positive so far. An official source said many of them are yet to be tested. Hundreds of trucks are stranded on the highway due to road repair works.

Following discharge of seven Assam Rifles men from hospital today, the number of discharged cases in the State has risen to 296. The number of active cases in Mizoram now stands at 270.
