Mizoram sets up isolation wards

AIZAWL, March 5 - Mizoram has set up isolation wards comprising a total of 72 beds in different government hospitals for suspected cases of coronavirus, State Health Minister Dr R Lalthangliana said in a high-level meeting here today.

He said a 35-bed isolation ward has been set up at the Zoram Medical College, apart from a five-bed ward in each of the eight district hospitals.

The meeting also decided to arrange a three-bed facility in each of the primary health centres, community health centres and subdivisional hospitals as isolation wards for suspected coronavirus patients who do not have isolation facilities in their homes. It was also decided that the AYUSH building at the Lengpui PHC should be prepared as an isolation ward for air passengers who arrive at the Lengpui airport.

The Chief Secretary and the Health Secretary gave a report on the Government�s preparedness against the disease. The meeting was informed that no case of coronavirus has been detected in the State so far.
