AIZAWL, April 10 - Mizoram Health Minister Dr R Lalthangliana today sought the Centres help to improve the health infrastructure in the State to fight the spread of novel coronavirus, an official release stated. During a video conference of Health ministers convened by Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan, Dr Lalthangliana highlighted the difficulties faced by the State in terms of health infrastructure, the release added. He requested the Union minister to provide rapid antibody test and TruNat test kits at the earliest to expedite testing of samples for COVID-19.

Mizoram has already started testing of samples for novel coronavirus at the states lone medical college, Zoram Medical College, since April 7.

Dr Lalthangliana also urged Dr Vardhan to provide adequate PCR test kits and install ICUs in all district hospitals. COVID-19 testing should be expedited in Mizoram due to the rapid surge of coronavirus cases in neighbouring States and countries, the Mizoram Health Minister said.

He also said that the State requires more microbiologists, epidemiologists and basic life support ambulances for various districts.
