Mizoram reports 10 more cases

AIZAWL, June 20 - After reporting no positive cases on Friday, Mizoram today reported 10 COVID-19 cases, taking the State�s tally to 140.

�Of 954 samples tested at the laboratory of the Zoram Medical College on Friday, reports of 10 samples came out positive and 760 were negative. Results of the remaining 184 samples are awaited,� an official source said today.

There are six women and an eight-year-old boy among the new cases. Four of the new patients are from Mamit district, while three are from Champhai, two from Serchhip and one from Khawzawl district.

�Three of them had returned from Delhi and seven from Maharashtra. Nine of them who are asymptomatic were at a community quarantine facility and one who had symptoms was kept at the dedicated COVID Health Centre,� the source said.

Besides the eight-year-old boy, the remaining nine patients are aged between 21 and 46 years.

The number of active cases in Mizoram now stand at 131. Nine patients have recovered.

The first COVID-19 patient of the State was a 50-year-old pastor who had returned from the Netherlands. He was discharged on May 9 after undergoing treatment for more than one month. Eight patients, who had tested positive on June 1, were discharged on June 19.
