AIZAWL, March 25 - Covid-19 has entered Mizoram as a 50-year-old man tested positive for the virus.

Health Minister Dr R Lalthangliana told a press conference this morning that the pastor who returned from The Netherlands on March 16 was tested positive and has been isolated at Zoram Medical College at Falkawn here.

His sample was tested at the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital, which confirmed it as positive, Lalthangliana told reporters. The result was received late on Tuesday night.

His wife and two children are also isolated at the medical college. His residence was also disinfected this morning.

His condition is stated to be fine.

Dr Eric Zomawia, the mission director of National Health Mission (NHM) here, said the patient was in The Netherlands for higher studies.

He said he took a flight from Amsterdam to Doha and then reached Delhi. He then flew to Guwahati and from there took another flight to Aizawl. He arrived here on March 16, said Zomawia.

Dr Zomawia said the man developed fever from March 18, and called doctors on March 20 who collected his throat swap.

The state government is tracing the people he came in contact with and has advised his co-passengers on the Guwahati-Aizawl flight to go on self-quarantine, Zomawia said.
