Mizoram observes Good Friday

AIZAWL, April 19 - Good Friday that marks the crucifixion of Jesus Christ more than 2,000 years ago, was observed in the Christian-dominated State of Mizoram today.

The streets wore a deserted look with all government offices, institutions and markets being closed.

The day was observed with religious solemnity in the churches across the State.

Members of the Catholic Church took out �cross procession� in different parts of the State and held high mass in churches. Special prayers and worship services were held in various churches of the State.

Ceremonies were also performed in the Presbyterian Church, Baptist Church, Pentecostal Church and the Salvation Army.
