AIZAWL, Nov 8 - The Mizoram government has extended the �COVID-19 No Tolerance Drive� in the State till November 30 to curb the rise in cases of local transmission of coronavirus.
Even as the lockdown in Aizawl municipal area is set to expire at 4 am Monday, the State government issued an order on Saturday regarding extension of the drive for another three weeks.
The no tolerance drive, which began on October 26, was initially scheduled to be lifted on November 10.
The order, however, stated that the inter-State border will continue to remain open for vehicles transporting both commodities and passengers.
The inter-State border is currently open at four points � Vairengte and Bairabi (with Assam), Kanhmun (with Tripura), and Khawkawn (with Manipur).
Lengpui airport will also remain open and the schedule of flight operations will be prepared by the civil aviation wing of the State General Administration Department in consultation with the operating airlines, the order said.
All educational institutions, training institutes, religious places, cinema halls, auditoriums, community halls, picnic spots and swimming pools will continue to remain closed, it said.
Assembly of more than five people is prohibited at public places.
Night curfew has been clamped in all district headquarters, including State capital Aizawl, from 8 pm to 4.30 am.
All shops have been allowed to open. However, shops in market areas and shopping malls or complexes within Aizawl municipal area, except for drug stores, would open on alternate days, the order said.
An odd-even rule will be exercised in Aizawl municipal area for vehicular movement. �Traffic No Tolerance� will be observed during this period in Aizawl municipal area. Inter-district movement of passenger vehicles to and from Aizawl has been allowed.
Mizoram today reported 57 new cases of COVID-19, taking the State�s tally to 3,090.
An official statement said the new cases were detected from 887 samples tested at the lab of the Zoram Medical College while 401 samples were tested through Rapid Antigen tests. All the 94 samples tested at Truenat labs in district hospitals turned out to be negative.
Of the 57 new cases, 53 were reported from Aizawl, three from Lawngtlai and one from Champhai, the statement said.
Thirteen children and five Border Security Force (BSF) jawans were among the newly infected.
Currently, Mizoram has 562 active cases, while 2,526 people have recovered from the disease. The State has so far recorded one COVID-19 related death.
