Mizoram employees call off agitation

By Newmai News

AIZAWL, Dec 7 - A three-day mass casual leave agitation launched by Federation of Mizoram Government Employees and Workers (FMGE&W) has been called off today after the State Government gave an assurance that it would make efforts to fulfill their demand.

The employees have been demanding immediate implementation of the Central 7th Pay Commissions recommendations in the State.

All activities in government offices came to a complete halt since yesterday as the employees stayed away from work.

Home Minister R Lalzirliana convened a meeting with the leaders of FMGE&W yesterday and requested them to call off the agitation after assuring that the government would make efforts to implement the Pay Commissions recommendations. Following this, the executive meeting of FMGE&W was convened today to discuss the Home Ministers appeal and assurance. The meeting later decided to suspend the agitation.

We appreciate the State Government assurance to take measures for implementation of the 7th Pay Commission recommendations in the State. We hereby call off the agitation for the time being, a statement issued by the Association said.

The Association had on November 22 and 23 last observed a two-day pen down strike demanding the State Government to implement the pay panels recommendations.
