Mizoram devotees can now sing hymns in churches

By The Assam Tribune

Aizawl, March 10: From February this year, Christians in Mizoram were allowed to conduct church services on Sundays, and Saturdays for Sabbath Christians, provided if they don’t sing.

Devotees attend the churches on these two days of the week without singing any hymn, wearing face masks, due to the strict COVID-19 protocols laid down by the State government.

As COVID-19 curve in Mizoram showed a downward trend since the last few months, the Mizoram government has relaxed the restrictions and allowed night services in the churches for twice a week, and most importantly singing.

“A review meeting to assess COVID-19 situation chaired by State Health Minister Dr R Lalthangliana on Monday decided to allow night church services twice a week, and also singing hymns at the church services from March 15,” an official statement said today.
