Mizoram COVID-19 cases cross 800 mark

AIZAWL, Aug 18 - Twenty-six fresh cases of COVID-19 today took Mizoram�s tally to 815.

From 235 samples tested at the Zoram Medical College laboratory here, 17 were confirmed to be positive, while five positive cases were detected after 25 rapid antigen tests in Kolasib district. In Lunglei district, four BSF personnel tested positive, official sources said.

Of the 26 new cases, 16 have been reported from Aizawl district, five from Kolasib, four from Lunglei and one from Hnahthial district.

Of the 16 confirmed cases in Aizawl district, nine cases were locally transmitted, the sources said.

Meanwhile, official sources said that four Border Security Force jawans, five truckers and their helpers, who came from outside, were among the newly-infected persons.

All the new patients were under quarantine before they tested positive for COVID-19, the sources added. Of the total 815 COVID-19 cases, 443 are active and 372 people have recovered. No fatality due to the disease has been reported in Mizoram till date.
