Mizoram ACB asked to probe fraud in subsidy

AIZAWL, June 17 - Mizoram chief secretary and chief vigilance officer Lalmalsawma has instructed State Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) to investigate the alleged fraud in the disbursement of subsidies to the Mizo Carbon Products, a firm which claimed to have processed charcoal at its unit in the Industrial Growth Centre near Aizawl.

Lalmalsawma issued the instruction on Tuesday following the decision to order the ACB probe by the meeting of the Council of Ministers on Monday, official sources said.

The State Level Committee had recommended payment of Rs 2.47 crore as Central Transport Subsidy (CTS) and another Rs 93.90 lakh as Central Capital Investment Subsidy (CCIS) for the Mizo Carbon Products, owned by Ravi Gulgulia, Central Committee of Young Mizo Association (CYMA) leaders said.

The State Level Committee again recommended payment of Rs 10.34 lakh CTS to the firm on May 27, the YMA leaders added. � PTI
