AIZAWL, April 20 - Mizoram Governor Lt Gen Nirbhay Sharma (Retd) on Monday met officers of Disaster Management & Rehabilitation Department (DM&R) and 1st Bn National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), who came here from Guwahati, at Raj Bhavan Conference Hall, and discussed with them various ways on how the people would face natural disasters with preparedness.

The Governor told DM&R and NDRF officials that the people of Mizoram needs to be trained immediately on how to face natural disasters with a calm mind, how to carry out rescue operation, how to prepare in advance, how to take care of the injured and other matters.

The Governor said that earthquakes occur more often now than before and the intensity is getting higher than the previous ones, and added that being in seismic Zone-V, Mizoram is vulnerable to strong earthquakes. Awareness of this on the part of the people is necessary, he said.
