Mixed response to Barak bandh

By Correspondent

SILCHAR, July 25 - The 12-hour Barak bandh called on Friday by the Barak Valley Kaibarta Samaj Unnayan Parishad evoked a mixed response here. While shops and big business establishments in the major commercial areas of the town remained closed, small shops in different localities operated as usual.

According to sources, over 100 picketers were arrested during the bandh for preventing government officials from entering their offices. They were later released. The bandh was called in protest against the alleged anomalies in the NRC form submission process.
