Mixed day for Assam in U-9 chess

GUWAHATI, May 21 � Two rounds were conducted on the second day of the 28th National U-9 Open & Girls Chess Championship at Puducherry today. The Assam team�s performance was mediocre with three wins and five defeats in the second round.

In the second round, Manthan Kashyap Datta defeated Karthik Muruganantham of Karnataka while Rishita Sinha won over State compatriot Anchita Sarma and Sahil Dey got the better of Karthikay C of Karnataka.

In the 3rd round, Anchita Sarma defeated Nunshithoi Nagairangbam of Manipur. Dhrupad Kashyap got his first win of the tournament deafeating Manoj B of Puducherry.

Meanwhile, Manthan and Rishita continued their winning streak with their third win over Evan Sanjoe of Tamil Nadu and Sathwika N of Andhra Pradesh respectively.

After 3 rounds, in the boys category, Siddhanth Lohia is holding the top position with 3 points. Assam�s Manthan Kashyap Datta is in the 7th spot. In the girls category Divya Deshmukh is in the top slot with 3 points while Assam�s Rishita Sinha is holding the 6th rank also with 3 points.
