GUWAHATI, May 17 Despite anomalies galore in the results of the HSLC Examination 2013, which were announced today, the day saw a mix of jubilation and despair among the students, guardians and school authorities here. Only three students from three different city-based schools could secure a position among the top 10.
For Sankardev Sishu Vidya Niketan, Beltola, it was a moment to celebrate as well as to lament. While Manash Pratim Goswami secured the 10th rank, 37 other students of the school were marked absent in various subjects.
A sports enthusiast, Manash expressed his happiness and extended his gratitude towards his parents and teachers for the success. He will join the commerce stream and hopes to become a reputed CA.
Another 10th rank holder, Annisha Kalita of St Marys HS School said there is no short cut to hard work. Annisha said she had not expected the position and the result came as a sweet surprise to her. She hopes to become a doctor.
Anisha Choudhury of Assam Jatiya Bidyalay, whose name does not find mention in the result sheet and has marks equal to the 10th rank holders, said that the confusion over her result had initially given her some tense moments. I want to pursue science, she said.
