Mission Indradhanush launched in Nagaland

DIMAPUR, April 7 � The Department of Health and Family Welfare of Nagaland has launched a special immunization drive in the districts of Kohima, Dimapur, Wokha, Kiphire, Tuensang and Mon in the State under Mission Indradhanush today. The immunization drive will be conducted seven days a week for four months in these six districts.

Nagaland Minister for Health & Family Welfare P Longon officially launched the mission at Naga Hospital Authority Kohima.

Elaborating on the programme, Mission Director (NHM) Dr N Changkija said the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, launched Mission Indradhanush in December 2014 as a special drive to vaccinate all unvaccinated and partially-vaccinated children under Universal Immunization Programme (UIP). She said six districts in Nagaland have been selected for the mission.

As part of Mission Indradhanush, the Dimapur District Task Force held a meeting under the initiative of Dimapur Deputy Commissioner Kesonyu Yhome.

Dr Lanuakum, DPO (UIP/RCH), gave a presentation on �Mission Indradhanush� and highlighted the several UIP programme milestones achieved over the years. He also highlighted the steady rise in percentage of full immunization coverage achieved, the dropout rates and why the children are being missed.

Dr Lanuakum also explained why Mission Indradhanush was launched by the government.
