Missing housewife from Jaleswar remains untraced

By Correspondent

GOALPARA, June 26 - A 32-year-old housewife has remained untraced for over a month since May 20 last.

In a letter addressed to the Deputy Commissioner dated 25/06/19, Mohan Kumar, the husband said that he went to the police after he couldnt trace his wife Om Devi Das who went missing from Kolabari, Hashdhoba under Jaleswar police outpost. Initially, an FIR was not registered by the incharge of Jaleswar police outpost Sarbesh Ali and only after making a complaint to the higher-ranking official at Goalpara SPs office, the matter was taken up by the Jaleswar police outpost and an FIR was registered. Further, Mohan Kumar alleged in the letter that the incharge Sarbesh Ali took Rs 2000 as bribe money for going to his house for investigation, where he assured to trace his missing wife immediately but the case could not make any headway due to the lackadaisical attitude of the police.

Meanwhile, even after intervention of Dr Mira Devi, president of the All India Democratic Womens Association and Noni Das from the CPM, the police did not accord priority in this case. However, it is distressing how such issues do not merit attention from the police, while valuable time was lost by postponing action on such complaints by the police of Jaleswar police outpost.

Further, Mohan Kumar has urged the district authority to trace and rescue his wife immediately.
