By Spl Correspondent

NEW DELHI, April 24 In a series of joint raids, Assam Police and Delhi Police teams have rescued three girls from different locations of Delhi and its adjoining areas.

A police team of Paneri Police Station in Darrang district following complaints from parents of the minor girls landed in the national capital looking for the missing girls. All the girls were missing for over two-and-a-half-years.

According to A K Bania of Assam Police, who was part of the raiding team, they conducted raids at a placement agency called Bharti Placement Service located at Shakarpur but found it locked.

It was later discovered that the owner of the agency Narayan Jha had passed away five days ago and his close relatives were running the operations. The owner had reported sold its operation to another agency, Rajdhani Placement Service. Its owner one Mahesh was summoned and all the files were seized.

The Assam Police team with the help of its Delhi counterpart managed to rescue one 16-year-old girl on the first day. Later another girl was traced to Karol Bagh and yet another to Jammu.

Bania said an agent Ali, who has since been detained, brought these girls. Ali used woo the girls by promising them good life in Delhi. They were later sold to the placement agencies, which engaged them as domestic helps. But none of the girls were paid as the placement agency used to collect their salaries.

Police is now looking into cases of missing girls of Assam following reports that some may have been sold in neighbouring Haryana, Bania said.
