JALUKBARI, April 13 - A 17-year-old girl from Garigaon Medhipara who had gone missing on April 7 while on her way to appear in her HS examination at Jalukbari Higher Secondary School, was rescued by Jalukbari Police Outpost from Howly, Barpeta last night.
Acting on a tip-off, Jitendra Singh i/c Officer In-charge of Jalukbari Police Outpost, managed to rescue the teenager from the clutches of her captor. The alleged captor, identified as Halema Khatun (25) of Boko Tuladi, was apprehended by the police and a case has been registered against her, police sources said.
The rescued girl revealed that Halema, who was in touch with her, lured her away on the pretext of arranging a job for her, but handed her over to a man. The girl was medically examined and handed over to her parents.
