By Correspondent

ITANAGAR, July 16 - Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) has urged the State Government to strengthen the public distribution system (PDS) in the State.

He said that the basic requirements, especially ration items must reach every bonafide citizen, especially those living in the remote villages of the State. Focus must be on the international border areas from Bhutan border in the West to Myanmar in the East, he added.

Besides suggesting for making essential commodities available at reasonable rates with utmost transparency and accountability, the Governor called for evolving an effective monitoring system in the State on availability and pricing of the essential commodities.

He also recommended for proper monitoring and regular inspection of store houses, fair price shops and other outlets to check malpractice and hoarding of essential commodities.

The Governor made these recommendations while interacting with Food & Civil Supplies Minister Kamlung Mosa-ng, who called on him at Raj Bhavan in Itanagar on Monday.
