Miscreants loot Rs 1 lakh from motorcyclist

By Correspondent

JORABAT, Aug 2 - Two bike-borne miscreants looted one lakh rupees from a man at Sonapur this afternoon.

According to information, Nazir Ali, an ex-employee of the irrigation department and resident of Hatkhula village under Sonapur Police Station, withdrew the money from the State Bank of Indias Sonapur Branch and headed towards his next destination on his bike. Soon his phone rang and he stopped his bike to answer the call in front of a shop at Sonapur old market.

As soon as Ali stopped his bike, an unidentified man patted him gently on the back and informed him that he had dropped some cash. As soon as Ali got down from his bike to collect the dropped cash, the man snatched the money bag from Alis bike and fled the scene on a bike driven by his accomplice. Luckily, the whole incident was recorded on a CCTV camera installed at the nearby shop.

It may be mentioned that the incident took place very close to the Sonapur Police Station. Similar incidents had taken place in the past also. In one incident, bike-borne miscreants had looted Rs 4 lakh from an unsuspecting person.

An interesting fact about the looting incidents is that all the victims had withdrawn money from the SBIs Sonapur Branch located just a few metres from the Sonapur PS.
