ITANAGAR, Aug 23 - Former Arunachal Minister late Chera Tallo�s wife Chera Mekia had a miraculous escape when a landslide triggered by cloudburst hit the vehicle she was travelling in at Koloriang, the headquarters of Kurung Kumey district bordering China, today.
Even though Mekia, who was driving the car, escaped unhurt, three other occupants of the vehicle including two minors sustained injuries in the accident that occurred near Kurung Kumey DC�s office.
The unforeseen disaster struck at around 12.30 pm today when they were returning from church after attending the Sunday service, according to an official communiqu� here. The intensity of the landslide was so severe that it badly damaged the four-wheeler.
All the three wounded persons after being provided with primary medical aid at Koloriang district hospital were later evacuated to the State capital, Itanagar for further treatment.
The district administration pressed into service its men and material for rescue operation and road restoration work. After nearly three hours, the blocked road between Malapu and Koloriang was made through for traffic movement.
The district administration has appealed to the people to stay away from landslide and flood prone zones and move to safer places.
