GUWAHATI, April 18 � A 13-year-old boy was rescued from the official residence of Congress legislator Rumi Nath this morning at Dispur.
The controversial Borkhola MLA is already in police custody for her alleged links with Anil Chauhan, the kingpin of pan-India auto theft racket.
A team of Child Line, Dispur Police and Labour Department officials today visited the MLA�s residence and rescued the boy who was employed as a domestic help.
The minor was produced before the Child Welfare Committee, Kamrup and was later shifted to a children�s home.
The CWC will now initiate legal proceedings as per the merit of the case, a source said.
Meanwhile, notorious kingpin of countrywide auto theft racket Anil Chauhan was today sent to five days custody of Basistha Police in connection with another car theft case.
Meanwhile, police also conducted searches in Chauhan�s Dwarkanagar house from where documents relating to his assets, including a flat in Mumbai, were seized.
Investigators are also examining the property documents kept in various bank lockers.
