DIBRUGARH, May 26 - A minor child was allegedly raped and impregnated by her grandfather in Natun Gaon, Maijan here. The incident came to light when her parents took her for medical check up after she developed tendencies of constant vomiting. Police immediately arrested the accused grandfather Tridip Bora on the basis of a complaint lodged by the victim�s parents. The victim reportedly said that she was raped some four months ago by her grandfather and had not disclosed it out of shame.
Infuriated by the news the local villagers today staged a gherao of the Sadar PS here, demanding death penalty for the perpetrator of the crime. A section of the villagers had staged gherao last evening too. Meanwhile, the police are waiting for a DNA test to further proceed in the case.
