TURA, Feb 28 - A girl from Koinadubi village near here gave birth to a child in Tura Civil Hospital after being raped by another minor from her school.
The incident came to light a few days ago after the birth of the child to the minor mother of about 14, a student of Class VI.
According to the statement of the victim, the accused, also a minor of 16, one day forced himself on her leading to her getting pregnant. The minor girl gave birth to the child last Saturday.
The matter was informed to DC of West Garo Hills who stated that a team from District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) would visit the girl in the hospital to verify the details before any action was taken.
Meanwhile, Dalu unit of Mothers� Union has sought for the sternest action against the accused. A DNA test should be taken to find the actual rapist, demanded the secretary of the Union.
