AGARTALA, Jan 24 - A 12-year-old girl was raped by a construction labourer at Laxmipur area in West Tripura district sparking a widespread uproar among the villagers. Angry villagers blockaded the Agartala-Simna road at Kamalghat area demanding immediate arrest of the accused � Saidul Alam, a resident of Assam�s Nagaon district.
After receiving the information, the SDPO along with additional forces rushed to the spot and assured the agitated villagers of arresting the culprit by next 24 hours. However, the villagers rolled back the blockade resuming normal vehicular movement on the strategic road after getting assurance of arresting the culprit at the earliest.
