According to the bulletin, the victim has been identified as Madhumala Khatun (5), daughter of Hukum Ali of Jiyaguri village (Topolakhua) under Matia revenue circle.

The flood situation remained unchanged since Wednesday. Currently, the Brahmaputra is flowing above the danger level at 36.56 metres, while the water levels of other major rivers Dudhnoi, Krishnai and Jinari in the district have been showing a decreasing trend.

A total of 94,610 people have been affected so far and 149 villages under Ronjuli, Matia, Balijana and Lakhipur revenue circles have been hit by floods. A total of 1,603 people displaced by flood waters have taken shelter in 16 relief camps 15 under Balijan revenue circle and one under Matia revenue circle set up by the district administration.

ANN Service adds from Tihu: A flood-related death has been reported from Tihu subdivision, even as flood waters have begun to recede, officials said on Thursday. The deceased was identified as Suresh Das Kachari of Natun Baniya village of Tihu. Sources said the body was found in a pond near the Helachapara and Natun Bania link road.

Locals saw the body and reported the matter to Tihu police, who sent the body to the Nalbari Civil Hospital for post mortem. Locals said that most probably, the current wave of floods swept the body to the place. It may be mentioned here that Suresh Das Kachari (52) was reported missing from June 28 night. His wife is currently at a relief camp set up at SD Senior School, Tihu.
